I have always loved petunias. From the ones that reseed over and over in the country gardens across the South, to the wonderful hybrids like the ones shown in the photos. I have always said, if you have sun you can grow petunias. Now, with some of the new hybrids, like the Wave selections, flowering seems continuous, but there are a few things that can promote additional flowering. Caring for petunias is easy. First, pinch off the dead blooms, and that will encourage new blooms. Also, as the summer goes on, they can become leggy, and a light pruning along with a light fertilization will keep them blooming into fall (you can do this several times throughout the growing season). It is not too late to plant them for summer now, and then in late summer you will see them again in the stores, because they are becoming a good fall annual that will last until our first frost.
