This entry is one that I could not resist showing you. The recessed doorway is flanked with two beautifully whitewashed urns filled with the beautiful vine, Silver Falls dichondra. This is unusual because most urns are filled with upright plants, but if you look at the proportions of the containers, size of lights, and the overhanging balcony that also functions as an entry cover, it is a perfect selection. Another unique feature of this entry is the door is not directly in the middle of the outdoor entry foyer. The deck above the entry’s railing is horizontal which helps bring the scale of the entry down in height, and again to me does two things. It announces the entry from a distance and also provides a visual accent for the outdoor foyer. To me, this is an example of good design that is simple and works beautifully.
